šCAN OF WORMSš Here are some observations and anecdotes:
My personal preference is the TLM. My family is part of an Apostolate with ICKSP, where we attend Sunday Mass and receive formation.
I attend the Novus Ordo daily. Our local parish is right next to my house.
I have friends who refuse to attend the Novus Ordo and say it is invalid. I know people who dismiss more expressive practices of the faith as mere sentimentality.
I have friends who refuse to attend the TLM because they say it is old and antiquated, painting those who love the TLM as out of touch with reality and relationship with God.
I have attended many Novus Ordo Masses, in which I have left feeling discouraged and honestly scandalized by the lack of reverence, wondering if in this day and age we have lost our spiritual sense of respect for the Almighty.
I would just like to reverence the very real experiences of people on both sides of this important topic, while also remaining firmly grounded in my love and fidelity to the Magisterium. We confront the reality of what is happening in our world and Church, allowing our emotions to give us a glimpse into the heart of God, and then move forward in conjunction with that reality to receive Godās providence to re-present redemption in the present moment.
In union with Our Lady of Sorrows, I hold space for the waves of emotions, dichotomies and false dichotomies, the hypocrisies, sufferings, and everything that arises as we strive to uphold the Sacred Institution given to us by Our Lord Himself.
I love the TLM, yet also receive graces from the Novus Ordo. I am in agreement with Pope Francisā call to confront liturgical abuses. I am completely against the idea that the Novus Ordo is invalid but understand the good and holy desire from my fellow TLM attendees for beautiful and reverent liturgy.
I donāt have answersājust observations and more questions... Alongside Mary, I ponder all these things in my heart, abiding in the vine and patiently interceding as God continues to love His Bride, the Church, into the fullest image of who She was made to be.
More later.
